Hello all, new member here and long time BMW Boxer owner also. I'm very interested in the 2024 R12, BMW is offering a $2000. Rebate att, if paying cash/check. I'm on the verge of buying this bike at our local Dealer. My only concerns are a couple of long term owners comments about the R12 Nine T and electronics issue. Such as "won't start, even after it has ran and warmed up" and other glitches that would be troubling.

I understand the complaints about no fuel gauge, but I went through that whole thing with a former 2008 R1200R and the faulty fuel strips. I can get by without a gauge. My question is to current owners of the R12 and if you experiences any faulty tech issues with the bike???

My alternatives are a 2025 Triumph Speed Master from the same Dealership, I can test ride both, but I love the Boxer Engine and the Driveshaft compared to the Chain Drive on the Triumph.

Thanks for your time and replies, Mike

I thought about the SpeedMaster also, but opted for the R12. My one and only complaint was the OEM suspension (it sucks IMO), and for about $1500 you can completely rectify that with Wilbers 640's (+15mm version) front and rear adn a Wilbers preload adjuster. Bike has been a complete dream since, had one recall for a handlebar switch, thats it.

Thank you for the quick Gary! The salesman stated that the switch gear recall had been performed at the warehouse before they received the R12. Did you install the Wilbers upgrade??

No other glitches I take it?

Yes, after returning from my first long trip on her and realizing that no amount of adjustment was going to make it right, made the appointment at my local suspension shop. Transformed the ride and the handling, much more planted now, love it. 0 issues, had it almost 1 year now.

Appreciate your input Gary, with the current 2K rebate it's quite tempting. I have a test ride planned for Tuesday.

No issues with my R12. I do agree with Gary the stock suspension sucks. I did the Wilbers upgrade and it made the difference.
Good to hear, "if" there were bugs with the NineT electronics, I'm guessing BMW must have worked them out before the intro of the R12.

Hello! No issues with my R12, recall done last week on the "comodo" switch.

I have had a 2024 R12 NineT 719 Option for about a year and never had any trouble with the bike. I test road the Triumph Speed Twin before buying the BMW and I much prefer the R12 NineT. I have not made any modifications to the bike nor had any issues at all in 6000 miles. The stock suspension seems fine to me when it is adjusted for weight and driving conditions so I don't plan to modify anything.

I have over 3000 Miles on my 2024 R12. Not one issue. My son works in parts and service at the dealership in Tampa Florida and has not heard of anything. Good Luck!

1400 on mine. Only one 'issue' - it's too quiet :) . Suspension could use more travel but still way better than Harleys that I was riding for last dozen or so years.
Shopped speedmaster as well and seemed lean angle on it would be much more limiting than the r12. Also looked at trident but r12 was a better fit for me.
An odd thing (in addition to no fuel guage) is the shifter and break 'pegs' are really small. First few miles i tended to miss them - an easy adjustmemt and also easily replaced.
